Dynamic Textile Patterns - Using Smart Textiles

This project is an investigation of dynamic textile patterns made out of "smart" textiles. Worbin wishes to enlarge the use of decorations as something other than a static image, but can contribute something more to wearables, fashion, furnishings as well as the public environment and communications.

Smart Textiles // Intelligent Fibres // Chameleon fibres //
+ fibres interact with its surrounding environment eg. temperature, light, sound.

A problem with her work is Worbins process. She traditionally sketches ideas onto paper and then later transfers them onto a textile material. A strong part of her work is that she does construct textiles with industrial solutions and techniques, even though they are used in a handicraft way

The work I am most interested in is worbins work with thermochromatic material which is combined with heated wire to produce well defined and noticeable patterns on a textile. This experimentation is understanding more about electrical components and textiles, more than a piece of wearable technology. However, with time and more experimentation it will definitely develop into something accessible in the world of wearable technology. The use of electrical components adds a sophisticated level of precision to thermochromatics that will only become more control with development.
